When tutoring students over the years, we noticed a troubling pattern. When asked questions like, “What does completing the square actually mean?” or “Why do we learn about surds?”, most students paused 😮 — not because they lacked effort or intelligence, but because they had been taught to memorise rather than understand 🧠.

Too often, students are introduced to techniques they can’t truly comprehend 😵‍💫, filled with terminology that feels disconnected from real understanding 😕. They learn how to solve problems — but not why those methods work.
